Haribo bag

My brother is partial to the odd haribo, as am I. For a bit of fun I made him a pouch to put them in.

The yarn is a combination of a linen viscose mix in dark green and hemp for the brown stripes. The linen is Erica Knight Studio Linen, colour cirrus. It was purchased from The Yarn Loft in Coln which also has an online shop by the name of emilyfoulds.com. The hemp came from Fred Aldous in Manchester, although I’m not sure about the make.

The crochet needle used was 3.5mm (US E/4, UK 9). The stitch was double crochet (US single crochet). The pouch was crocheted on the round. I started by crocheting a chain. Then I crocheted around the chain with a couple of extra stitches at each end.

Before starting I crocheted a swatch and used this to calculate the number of stitches to fit comfortably around a bag of haribo sweets.

It was finished off with a beautiful button I found in my box of many buttons.
